Prima has set up a state of the art Individual Quick Freeze facility. IQF is a method that does not allow large ice crystals to form in vegetable cells. Also, since each piece is individually frozen, particles do not cohere, and the final product is not frozen into a solid block. This facility forms the core of the infrastructure at the processing plant. The IQF method of freezing ensures that the quality of the end product is much superior compared to other methods of food preservation like dehydration, canning or bottling as it as does not lead to any loss of nutrients, flavors, colors, shape or texture. The process also results in a longer shelf life (up to 18 months), reduced thawing loss and no product deformation.
